Message to the School Community

April 18th 2020
Now that the Easter break is coming to an end it is time to look forward, insofar as we can, to the next few weeks before further announcements are made by the government and other relevant bodies. Covid-19 continues to have various impacts on us all and I hope that you have all managed to remain safe and well in these testing times.
Various announcements have been made in recent weeks in relation to education. The most notable of these were the “postponement” of the Leaving Certificate and the “cancellation” of the Junior Cert. Unfortunately, these announcements created further confusion, stress and anxiety amongst cohorts of our students, especially our Leaving Certificate, Leaving Certificate Applied and 3rd year Junior Cycle students. Efforts are currently underway nationally between relevant stakeholders to attempt to gain clarity around these issues.
For now, it is important to rally the students again for a final push in the last term of the current academic year. As a parent I fully understand the difficulties for a student in relation to motivation and application to a different learning regime. Prior to the break we spent a lot of time ensuring that passwords etc were updated. Staff are ready to recommence work with their students and, hard as it is, we would encourage students to engage in a positive fashion and stay focused. It’s a challenge so I would encourage taking it one day at a time.
We would ask students to continue to show their maturity and respect to all, especially family members – we are all going through this together and need all the help and support we can get. If you are finding things particularly difficult get in touch with your teachers, guidance counsellors, whoever you choose. Email queries to info@carrigcs.ie and they will be directed to the most appropriate person who can help you.
Please continue to observe and diligently practice all guidelines being issued from the relevant authorities in relation to Covid-19. Stay fit and healthy.
Any relevant updates will be sent to you via this website and text message as the need arises. You can also follow us on twitter @ccs_info
