Success in National Programming Competitions for Leaving Cert Student
Congratulations to Abdullah Mohammad, 6th Year, who, together with his teammate, Adam O’Sullivan of St. Peter’s Community School, Passage West, won the Irish Collegiate Programming Contest held in University College Cork on 6th April 2013. It is the largest computer programming competition in Ireland. The fact that the students were competing against 20 teams, mainly comprised of 3rd level students, makes their win all the more special.
Abdullah also recently won a silver medal in the senior section of the All Ireland Programming Olympiad held in Dublin City University and so is now one of six students competing for a place to represent Ireland in the International Olympiad in Informatics, to be held in in Australia this July.
Abdullah has in recent years taken part in the Munster Programming Training programme, run by Dr. Sabin Tabirca, at Department of Computer Science, UCC.
