Basketball at CCS

The school has a long standing tradition of involvement in sports across the board.
One sport which has seen huge popularity and success down through the years is Basketball.

Played in the school by boys, girls and staff, basketball has always been a well loved sport here at CCS.

We boast a variety of teams in all age categories from 1st and 2nd Year to U16 (cadette) and U19 (senior).  CCS enters the Cork county leagues and the All-Ireland Cup competition.

The coaching-staff are enthusiastic, experienced and totally dedicated to the sport as can be seen from the training schedule each year.  Basketball training takes place each week night excluding Tuesdays.

There is also a mixed staff team that play ‘friendly games’ against teams of staff from neighbouring schools.

The school boasts a number of successes since basketball launched in CCS many years ago.  Teams have won County Finals and All-Ireland competitions and we have had a number of representatives on both Cork and Irish Teams.

Basketball is as strong as ever and the support and commitment to the sport is ever growing at CCS, we had 1st and 2nd year boys and girls’ teams reaching All-Ireland stages this season 2011/2012 and congratulations to all involved.

New players and coaches are always welcome.
