Video Conference with U.S. School

Mr. Cahill’s 2nd Year History class, class Fergal, recently took part in a video conference with Cutler Elementary school in New Hampshire in the United States.

Thanks to the Pfizer Foundation, who provided funding for several schools associated with Pfizer sites to aquire videoconferencing equipment, CCS was presented with a Polycom videoconferencing system. Ms Beth Audette of Cutler school, together with some of her colleagues, wanted to expose rural schools to experiences not usually available to students with little or no access to museums, science centers, foreign students, different cultures, etc. The Cutler School  is in rural New Hampshire and the students were thrilled with the opportunity to chat with class Fergal.

The students asked each other questions on history, culture and modern life in both countries and thoroughly enjoyed the experience. It is hoped that the students will continue to develop this link in the future.

Other schools involved in the program are located in Canada, USA, Puerto Rico and Australia as well as a number of other schools in Ireland.
