Scratch Programming National Final 22/5/2010

Students from around Ireland battled it out on Saturday 22nd May in the National Final of the Scratch programming competition in which they had to demonstrate projects using the freely available computer software programme Scratch. The two students representing CCS were Roy Sheehan (5th Year) and Holly O’Sullivan (4th Year). The students’ project ‘William’s Adventures’ was chosen as one of the regional winners to compete at the National Final. Although Holly and Roy were not placed in the top 3 on the day, they were presented with their regional winners medals and received gift vouchers from the Irish Computer Society, who sponsored the event. Well done to the students on getting so far and on their wonderful presentation of their project on the day.

Congratulations also to Luke Heaphy and Martina Desmond (4th Year), who were awarded a Highly Commended in the regional competition for their project entitled ‘Greeny and the Fish’.
